Everybody else is doing it
So basically everyone else in the world had a cute blog and mine was boring. My plan is to someday upgrade this to an actual website with different pages and things, but I decided in the meantime I would make it a little cuter since it turns out all you have to do is copy and paste something. Maybe I will get more ambitious and make my own background...after I learn to play the guitar, and clean my room, and do the dishes, and publish a book. :P

We went on vacation,

and while we played

something sinister awoke in the deep.

We fettered away our time, in ignorant bliss,

while the beast grew strong.

And when we finally returned, it was everlastingly too late.

The moral of this story: Close your freezer Dummy.

As some of you know, for Bryce's Birthday I went on a crazy quest to locate a German Stuttgart edition of Monopoly. I searched everywhere, called numerous companies, emailled companies in English and German and finally resorted to, the German ebay. I found one game and bought it and felt incredibly victorious. I emailled the seller a lot of times to make sure it was ok to ship to America and to get updates.

In most areas, of life, my problem is overconfidence, but I am very very self-conscious about speaking German. I don't like feeling that what I am saying is inferior to what I am meaning. I don't like thinking I might be saying something confusing or wrong and I don't like that I am probably pronouncing things like a hick. My linguistics professor would say I am giving myself an affective filter and crippling my own learning abilities, and he would be exactly right. He probably would have advice like "Just forget about how you look and try!" This is also good advice, but knowing that and doing it are quite different accomplishments.

Even with all my language-fear baggage I loved getting this game for Bryce. I felt sneaky and smart for being able to communicate with a real German lady-ebay-seller and have her really understand me. I even asked her to be my pen-pal! (I know that is dorky but I love it so much that I don't even care about the dorkdom.) We have been writing for a few months and it could be possible that my filter is getting some bigger holes in it, and I might be getting a little less afraid. So, dear Dr. Eggington, you were right. I always knew you were, but now I am trying to do what you said, and it is great!

I don't want to get all political
But I have to say I am relieved that Hillary did not win the Democratic nomination. That lady gives me the creeps. In honor of her defeat I invited Barack and John over to my house to celebrate with lemonade and cookies. I couldn't take pictures of the little party but here's how it went:

You see? We're not so different after all.

I have huge hands for a girl and maybe also for most guys. My hands do a good job at things, but I must admit, sometimes I think it might be nice to have tiny little girl hands. I was talking to a friend of mine (one of my friends who has tiny tiny hands) I explained that my hands are bigger than any girl hands I know, and lots of boy hands too. She said she has the opposite problem and her hands are smaller than anyone she knows, (besides little kids) and that she wished hers were a little bigger. So here we are, both thinking the grass is greener on the other side. But it is not actually always greener, there are always lots of sides to an issue, and some sides have decidedly ungreen grass. For example:

So hands, never fear, I will not ever trade you in for a different model!

But I am curious now. My hands measure 7.25 inches from the tip of my middle finger to the base of my palm. How do your hands measure up? If you leave a measurement in the comments
maybe I will donate a kidney to you one day, when you really need it.

Apologies to everyone. I have been terribly lazy lately, when it comes to updating this blog. Here are some pictures of our trip to California for Sara and Bryan's wedding. Somehow vacations always sort of throw me out of whack for a few days but I am getting readjusted! Comics coming soon :)This is us at Disneyland! Here we are right after the wedding, it was freezing!!!!! Despite the weather being pesky the day turned out really well I think. The reception was very pretty and very tasty. And best of all we got a new brother for our family!
